[b]Post here if you are new, say something about yourself, and let the community welcome you. Keep reading for the Guide which explains most of OPNPW commands that will help you get familiar with the program faster, and also it have information on Main server and Backup server [/b]

A Note to the Newcomers:

First of all, Welcome. Now lets get straight to the point.

[b] What is OPNPW? [/b] - Online PnP World (OPnPW for short) is a multi-client online text roleplaying game. It allows DM/Refs/GMs and other Game Runners to connect to a central location where players may also connect. Then with all the tools that a normal Pen and Paper role-player would normally have to play. Dice, Character sheets, Scratch pad all the tools needed to play a text rpg are provided. And if they aren't then submit a Feature Request. It is similar to programs such as WebRPG and OpenRPG, however this program is completely free.

[b]Where Do I download it?[/b] - [url]http://www.opnpw.com/[/url] - Go down to download section and click on download Opnpw X.X Full Install. You can also surf around the site to learn more about the program. After installation, create a new user and you are all set for the adventure.

[b]I have downloaded it, but I can't connect [/b] - Most likely the server is down, just be patient and try again later. But before you wait you may want to try connecting to the backup server. This is how you connect to the backup server- First, open up opnpw and when the select user prompt comes up right click on your user name to go to edit profile screen. Now go down to server, click on "def" and then click on backup. After you did that simply click done and you are ready to connect to the backup server. If the backup server is also down then you have no choice but to wait. If it is not a server problem, most likely you will find the solution in the bugs/suggestion thread. If not, just make a post and ask for help.

[b]How do I sign up/Run Games [/b] - [url]http://www.leetsoftware.com/forums/viewforum.php?f=5&sid=0eab2f5acbb581048b2c463a174f91c5[/url]- Go Here, and look around for a game that is currently accepting, or just start up a new topic stating that you will be dming a game soon and are looking for players.

[b] I have logged in, and I see no one/ main server is down, what do i do now? [/b] - Opnpw is still fairly new compared to other similar products, so the community is still fairly small, but more people will be coming in soon. Also Most people in this community usually log in after 6 pm eastern (unless a game is schedualed earlier).

[b]Commands[/b]

1.Rolling Dices

Type "/roll xdy" and enter. Where x is the number of dice and y is the type of dice. For example if I typed 1d20 this would give me a result of a d20 dice. You can also add modifiers to it. So Let's say my attack bonus is +2 with a longsword. So all i have to do is type "/roll 1d20+2" to gain my result.

2. Creating/Joining Games

Click on Games & Tools, Go down to create or join, whichever you prefer.

3. Emoting/Action

- Type "/me (state your action here)". So for example If I type "/me shoots the goblin" and press enter, that message will be emoted. During the games, most players use this feature to state their actions.

4. Changing Names

In games users change into their roleplaying name. To do this all you have to do is type /nick (new name) . So for example if i type "/nick Lusre" my name will be changed to Lusre.

5. Rolling Private/Public

Sometimes Dms require you to roll your dice privetly so that only dm and you can see. To do this all you have to is click on the Button Dice on the bottom, and then click on Rolls:Public/Private to change your preference. (default is public)

6. DM Features

-Speaking As Npcs: If you want to try your hand in Dming. Speak as npcs can be a useful feature. To do this, click on Speak as Npcs in the bottom, after you created the game (this button will not do anything anywhere other then in your gameroom). Now a small window will pop up, type in the name of your npcs in the space right beside npc:, and then press enter. Then type in whatever you want the npc to say in the blank space beside it and press enter again.

-Adventure Info: Some dms like to give out handouts before games, to inform players about the setting of their campaign, or about history. Just click on adventure, type in whatever info in the text box, and click set, to hand it out to everyone in the game room.

There are many more features in opnpw, you will learn about them as you use the program.

For the next few weeks, I am expecting few newcomers from different forums and websites. I know that many of you are also invovled in so many other dnd related sites and forums. So if you guys could also advertise opnpw (without bothering those communities), please do so, and lets make OPNPW a little more active, so that we all have more games to play, watch and dm.
