Look like a headache? Oh, hell yes. It's ok, I'm here to help.

To make a Magitek suit, you must first choose a Chassis. We'll choose the MT-27. This is basically the suit's frame. It also determines how much 'stuff' we can put on our suit. Let's look at the stats:

Crew and Passengers:
Crew: 1
Passengers: 0
Cover: 1/2

General Statistics:
Large Size
Hull Points: 10
Armor Class: 12
Armor Rating: 4

Ability Scores:
Strength: 20
Dexterity: 6
Constitution: 10

Magic Generation:
Mana: 0
0th's: 0

Equipment & Space:
WMs: 0
CSs: 0
SSs: 34

Suffering any brain damage yet? Well, you're in luck. Here is a brief description of everything:

Crew: Should be self explanitory. This is how many 'pilots' are required to manuever this Magitek suit.

Passengers: Should also be self explanitory. This is how many characters can be onboard in excess of the crew.

Cover: This is how much cover is granted to the crew. Passengers may or may not be granted this cover, depending on the description of the Magitek suit.

Hull Points: These are the "Wound Points" of the Magitek suit. If a suit takes Hull Point damage, it took direct damage to its frame and its components. In other words, taking Hull damage is bad.

Armor Class and Armor Rating: Armor Class is obvious; it's the number that the enemy needs to beat when trying to hit the Magitek suit. Armor Rating, on the other hand, is like Damage Reduction. Any damage sustained by the Magitek is reduced first by the suit's Armor Rating. This reflects the suit's armor and the thickness of its metal shell.

Ability Scores: A Magitek suit has a limited array of pseudo-ability scores. The power it generates is similar to a character with the same stats. These help determine the craft's Reflex and Fortitude save bonuses, melee and ranged to-hit modifiers, and melee damage modifiers.

Magic Generation: Every Magitek suit has a bit of magical energy running though it. Many suits produce extra energy that can be used or stored for other uses. This is represented in the form of normal Mana & 0th level Mana. The difference between Mana and 0ths is that Mana can be used in place of a 0th, but a 0th Mana cannot be used in place of a normal Mana. Normal Mana is obviously better, but can also be a waste if only a 0ths worth of Mana is required.
Mana and 0ths are used to power various components on the Magitek suit, such as leg or arm drives, and certain weapons.

Spaces:WM stands for Weapon Mounts, CS stands for Component Spaces, and SS stands for Storage Spaces. Storage Spaces represent how much room is available in the Magitek suit. Certain parts of the Magitek suit (mainly the Main Drive) produce Component Spaces, which represent hook-ups available to power different parts and components on the Magitek suit. Weapon Mounts are often already on the Magitek suit, and represent areas that are specifically designed for weapons. Additional Weapon Mounts can be made from two Storage Spaces and one Component Space.
With these different spaces, you can mount anything on the Magitek suit, provided there is enough of the required space.[/list:u]

Now, let's add our first part, the Main Drive. Since we have a Large Size Magitek suit, we need a Main Drive that is Large Size. We can choose from the MD7, MD9, or the MD10. We're on a small budget, and we don't really need the statistic enhancements or the Mana & 0th generation, so let's just choose the MD7. Now, let's look at our suit's stats:

Crew and Passengers:
Crew: 1
Passengers: 0
Cover: 1/2

General Statistics:
Large Size
Hull Points: 10
Armor Class: 12
Armor Rating: 4
Speed: 20' (x2)
Distance: (100%)

Ability Scores:
Strength: 20
Dexterity: 6
Constitution: 10

Magic Generation:
Mana: 0
0th's: +1

Equipment & Space:
Magitek MD9 Main Drive
WMs: 0
CSs: 6
SSs: 27

Now, since we are on such a low budget, we skip over the Secondary Drives. They're useful if the Main Drive gets damaged, but that'll be a bridge we'd have to cross at some later date. Let's get right to the nitty gritty right away and dive into some weapons, shall we?

We decided that we want two Razor Claws, one on each arm. Well, we first need to see what the Razor Claws need to be mounted.

The RC1 doesn't need a Weapon Mount, so why don't we choose that kind? We mount a Razor Claw on each arm. Next, while we were mounting the claws, one of our good buddies came by with a little gift. A BlackTek M4 missile rack and Eight BT 40 missiles.

We decide that we want to mount the rack to the right of the cockpit on the Magitek suit's head. We don't have any weapon mounts, so we need to make two for the missile rack. That makes the missile rack cost us 3 component spaces total, and a total of 7 storage spaces. That's not even including the space required to hold the missiles themselves, which cost two more storage spaces! So, here's what our Magitek suit looks like after adding those weapons:

Crew and Passengers:
Crew: 1
Passengers: 0
Cover: 1/2

General Statistics:
Large Size
Hull Points: 10
Armor Class: 12
Armor Rating: 4
Speed: 20' (x2)
Distance: (100%)

Ability Scores:
Strength: 20
Dexterity: 6
Constitution: 10

Magic Generation:
Mana: 0
0th's: +1

Equipment & Space:
Magitek MD9 Main Drive
Magitek RC1 Razor Claws (2)
BlackTek M4 Missile Rack
- BT 40 Missiles (8)
WMs: 0
CSs: 1
SSs: 18

Weapons:
Razor Claws (2):
To-Hit: +5 melee
Damage: 1d8+5 (slashing)
PV: 0
Critical: 18-20

Missile Rack (w/ BT 40 Missiles):
Range: 500' (10' radius)
Ref Save DC: 14
Damage: 6d6
PV: 4
Capacity: 4

Alrighty. We've got ourselves a basic Magitek suit. Now, we'd spend some space to outfit our suit in some armor, but I'm sure you can figure that part out yourselves.

Before I end, I'll explain one more thing. PV stands for Penetration Value. Penetration Value negates Armor Rating. So, if something with a Penetration Value of 4 deals 3 points of damage to something with an Armor Rating of 6, it would inflict one point of damage. Note that Penetration Value cannot increase the amount of damage dealt, even if the PV is higher than the defender's AR.

FFRPS Magitek system... What do you think?

Just a thought, how about a slight conversion of these rules to include Combat Airships, cause that's be cool :) that FFX airship was pretty sweet

FFRPS Magitek system... What do you think?

These rules allow for anything. So long as you make a chassis for the airship, and perhaps some different engines and such. I've already made a chassis and engines for Spitfires (the flying machines from FF3).

"You see now they're thinking about banning toy guns... And they're going to keep the fuckin' real ones!"
