I suppose this is a good a place to start as any:

Which FF is this based on, on is it kind of all of them suished together, an average of all FF games?

Regardless, Breifly glancing through and noticing lots of missing or broken links I have a few questions to help clear up the races.

Behemoth -
favored class is behemoth?
i presume this goes back to the FF2 (en) days in which the behemoth is a huge creature to begin with (sprite wise anyway).
If behemoth starts out medium sized and at level 5 suddenly goes large, there is an implied growth. Is this a sudden change or gradual. If gradual perhaps a definiation of the change is necessary. i.e. 1 ft. per level. Behemoth could conceivably upon gaining a large amount of levels become huge, and even gargantuan. It seems then to me that behemoths could almost be considered a kind of dragon family offshoot or at least in the lizard/reptile family.

Burmecian -
my first note was wondering if they were somewhat wolf-like. but you later have the Lycerian (?) who is kind of like a beast man or cat person?
Just a little more reference frame.

Centaur -
Centaurs gain that large status after level 5 also. Do they also grow gradually perhaps? topping off at some point?
I would rather think that centaurs start out as Large and leave it at that.

Illithid -
always intrigued by these guys, but broken link.

Magus -
so they are part esper. I wonder if the previous esper type determines a Magus's predisposition to a type of magic. While the games seem to allow anyon to learn any magic so long as they use the appropriate esper, perhaps a limitation to particular types of spells could be in order for magus as the trade off of power in a favored class (specialization of sorts)

Just some quick beginning thoughts.

#1) If a creature starts as large size, far too powerful. Yes, gradual growth.

#2) Illithid being worked on by Muddy. He's showed me some of his ideas. I like them.

#3) Note the complete lack of descriptive text. When that's there, all 'technical' questions related to what the races look like and such will be answered.

#4) Burmecians = Ratpeople, Lycerians = Catpeople, Behemoths = [basically D&D Ogres]. Here's a 'cute' picture of a Behemoth:

http://www26.brinkster.com/setsuna/art/behemoth.jpg

FFRPS's behemoths are less beastial (only slightly, though) and stand upright, very stout-ish. Also, less demonic looking.

#5) All FF games. I choose things I like, keep them, convert them. A smattering consisting mostly of FF3 & FFT, with a lot of other things mixed in for flavor.

#6) When a race has it's own race as it's favored class, that means that it has to take class levels in its race before it can take class levels in standard classes. Lastly, remember what favored class does; it removes the exp penalty for multiclassing. So, when a behemoth takes levels in Soldier after taking all of it's Behemoth levels, it doesn't suffer an exp penalty. Hence, favored class Behemoth.

#7) Magus, huh, what? Please say that again. I don't understand. They aren't really part esper. That's like saying that I'm part Roman. Yeah, one of my ancestors may at one time have been from ancient Rome. Does that make me part Roman? I... Don't think so. Think (if you've played FF3) of Strago, Relm, and those that lived in Thamasa (sp).

Ah so what you are saying is they have the remains of ancient magical power still imbued inside of them, from their heritage of intermarrying with magical beings (at least I seem to remember that...). Anyways, Saber are you accepting new ideas? I don't recall any Illithids in FF, just the ones living in the Underdark in DnD. If so..I might have a race concept or two just sitting about the office :)

Lord of Castle Black and host of the never-ending party. Collects Morganti weapons and illegal books. Likes Eastern brandy, his sword Blackwand, and going on killing sprees.

Actually, you would be part Roman genetically. BUT I'll quote:

Spells: As part Esper, magus have a natural skill for magic. A magus begins play with two 0th level spells of their choice already known and three additional free 0th-level castings per day. These stack with 0th-level castings granted by classes.

I had assumed they were more than a tenth Chickapaw Ingine Squaw. And I still wondered, since espers came in a variety of forms with various specialties (Ice:Shiva, Fire:Efreet/Ifrit, etc.) if the part of the character that was esper had an influence into the types of magic they cast.

I have an Idea for a class....instead of explainin it all here is the site:

This would be a nice class as well to have:

Since Strago and Relm didn't seem to have any affinity one way or the other when it came to which spells they cast, I'm gonna have to say no. However, the Esper template (sounds odd? It should) does have a sort of affinity system going on. Lastly, remember some of the Espers didn't really even have any affinity going on, like Tritoch. He had Fire, Ice, and Bolt spells.

EDIT: Oops, sorry Morro. Forgot about your post. There were Illithid in FF... They were, however, called Mind Blasters in FFT and I'm sure they're in other FF games as well. I'll grant you that they were never a playable or even friendly race. S'okay, as from what it looks like, the race Muddy is crafting up doesn't seem all that friendly; not to say that they're evil, of course (no races will be primarily evil. A few are neutral, though).

EXTRA EDIT: Oh, and hey, if you've got a race to suggest, even if it's not been in a FF game yet, suggest away. Make a new post and we'll see how it fares. I'm game for another, unique race. Same goes for classes, however, I'm far more set in my ways for the class selection.
