When a player rolls privately... They cannot see their own roll. I, personally, think this should be changed.

Another minor error

I think its supposed to be secret... so the player doesnt know what they got on their listen check etc. It doesnt help if you go 'okay, listen check' and they can see they got a 1. Most players I know of would try to beg a retry, or at least play differently as if there is something out there (even if it was just a paranoia roll). If the player cares so much about what they got, they can ask, or the dm can tell them.

I personally dont think it should be changed.

Uh, that's why the DM asks the player for their listen bonus... And then rolls it themself. Realize... The DM can't tell if it's secret or not!

The DM could say "Ok, everyone roll private checks!" and someone forgets or chooses not to roll privately... Or you could be having a solo session and the player just doesn't roll private. You'd NEVER know the difference.

This way, you know they see their rolls. Now, there are, in essence, three options (instead of the old two):

Public - Everyone sees
Private - DM & PC see
DM - DM only

I think it a no-brainer.
