Yes, yes, im restartin it, this time, vesion 3.5. I still need to work out the kinks (such as definite cosmology (different from the PHB cosmoloy) and whatnot). It will be much in the same fashion as the last one (if any of you remember it):

The ninth age is coming to an end. The disturbed rumblings of an ancient, evil power threaten to send the world of Ankirra into chaos... or worse. World powers are grasping for the one thing that could save them from the edge of disaster, or send them plunging over it into the abyss... an object that can control the power whose dreams corrupt the fabric of reality. However not all want to stop the looming disaster.

I will need at least 4-5 dedicated players willing to show up around these times. This will be a late night game, and by late, i mean REALLY late. I work night shift. Therefore, I keep odd hours, and have strange days off. Expect games to start around 5-10 pm PT, and end latest around ohh.... lets say around 5-6 am PT (Gives me an hour or so to relax before hitting the hay)... on my days off, of course. The night shift at my job is generally slow... which will give me tons of time to work on the campaign between games.

I don't mind newbies to online roleplaying, but please have at least some experience with dungeons and dragons 3.5 or 3.0. The game will be version 3.5, and use core books for races and classes. Alignments are limited to lawful good and neutral good (please pm me if you have any questions about any exceptions to this). Races are limited to Humans, Elves, Halflings, and Gnomes (no halfbreeds). All classes are open for the moment... I will post any changes to classes due to the worlds societal makeup, so please don't choose a class just yet.

I require again 4-5 dedicated latenight players willing to play a very serious game. There will be a great deal of roleplaying, investigating, and thinking required, though I will try to make there be at least one battle (if even only minor) per session. Experience will be awarded for roleplaying, combat, and storyline development goals (as in finding key clues and sharing them with the rest of the party and making certain connections).

(edit: removing typos)

The Eye of Diiar 3.5 -- Players (Still) Wanted

Sounds like a very, VERY fun game. Count me in, Pheenyx. I'm in the Pacific ST and I'm a literal insomniac, so I'll be up. I'm dedicated... have a hella lotta books for 3.5e (I DM a lot), and I'm an experienced Roleplayer. I'm Chris or Zenithan online... and xxmanofsinxx on AIM.

Christ, it's nothing personal
You've got to see
They twist and turn your words
For their own needs
They're brainwashed puppets
The almighty crutch
Cowards of reality
And their dying love

I'm back... but anyways, I'd like to join the game again, so count me in as well

(there better not be any giant centapides (SP?))

The Eye of Diiar 3.5 -- Players (Still) Wanted

Those damn centipedes...how I remember them. Not sure about coming back, as I'm in a game or two as well as possibly running Gormenghast (not to mention real life...which is heating up/getting busy). I'm sure you will be able to find replacements though, if you are still planning to run this..it is a rather old post.

The Eye of Diiar 3.5 -- Players (Still) Wanted

So alright, it looks like theres enough people wanting in on it again, or at least enough to start doing the nitty-gritty. I have next thursday and friday off, and I'll be off and on throughout the next few days for maybe an hour or two a day (and perhaps another hour early morning ish). (between 3-5 pmish Pt, and possibly 7:30-8:30ish am pt sunday-wednesday, after 3 or 5 pm pt on thursday and friday, 3-5 pmish pt saturday, this next week)

Characters as follows:

All core classes open, changes as follows:
The Eschew Materials feat does not exist, and yes, you do have to go out and catch fireflies or find phospherent moss for light spells and whatnot. Arcane magic is outlawed in most parts of the world, as a compensation to wizards and sorcerors who will be forever on the run from the law (at least over 95% of the world), you gain an extra feat at first level, I suggest something along the lines of spell mastery or run, chances are you'll need it, unless of course you do want to be burned at the stake for practising dark arts and cavorting with daemons. Wizards get an extra spell/level to add to their books (as a wizards spellbook is a somewhat... ah... damning piece of evidence at an inquisition, and it might as well be somewhat worth it)
Clerics, Monks and Wizards are the only classes that can write and read common. Due to the lack of high magecraft, not a whole lot of people are book-learned, and save for those that attend holy schools, the written word is lost (as a result, most signage is in large colourful windows GUIish icons and diagrams!)
Divine magic (the magic used by paladins, clerics, druids, rangers, and for some spells anyways, bards) is not outlawed, but to use it beyond a religious use requires a lisence in most kingdoms. Clerics have no domains as of yet as I have not assigned any to the new pantheon. Talk to me about deities if you need to follow one and we can work out a couple domains for you. Apart from clerics/paladins/monks, most people follow all the gods, so unless you ascribe to a certain system (for instance Solstaisim (worship of solstia -- the sun), Croenism (worship of the white moon), Vusai (worship of the black moon), or Diiarism (Worship of the Red moon), its not neccessary to note a deity down.
Available Races are as follows: Human, Elf, Gnome, Dwarf, Halfling. thats right, no crossbreeds! Half-elves are rare, and most half-orcs are killed at birth.

More later, as well as the updated worlsetting file as well as mythology.

Oh, and characters level 1, D&D 3.5e, make up your own stats, only one score with a negative lowest is 6, highest stat is 18, +10 modifiers. 90 gp to buy stuffage. Alignments LG, NG, CG, LN only.

Keep in mind this is latenights and wont have an absolute ton of combat.. so a character background would be nice, too, especially considering I will only be using combat to further the plot of the story, none of this 'goblins jump out of nowhere and attack you!' garbage. Entire sessions may pass without a single 'roll intiative'.

Oh yeah, and there's an airship involved somehow.

Milo has asked me to make sure noone takes halfling rogue.

"The beatings shall continue until morale improves"

The Eye of Diiar 3.5 -- Players (Still) Wanted

i call pally of human. hehehe

When in doubt whether the BBEG is giving up or not, SMITE IT!

The Eye of Diiar 3.5 -- Players (Still) Wanted

So, we have:

Squall - Human Paladin
Milo - Halfling Rogue (unless he changes his mind at the last minute and makes something else)

Tonight's project: More dragons. The european-style dragons in the MM dont exactly suit the campaign... So I am.. altering them to the point of essentially having new dragons of a slightly different flavour that suits the campaign a bit better. Quintupled the age required to get into an age category already. Already have two dragons done: The Deep Dragon and the Tusked Dragon.

Tomorrows project if i haven't finished the dragons tonight will be to do a basic map of the starting city and get some NPCs down personality and appearance wise.

Thursdays project (my first day off): More work on the pantheon and WS files, and some special critter templates (where can I find info on CRing templates properly??), and possibly a new world map that looks all spiffy.

anyone else want in? There's at least two more positions (if not three or four) open. Newbies to the program welcome... should at least have some sort of knowledge of the system, however (I'm sure someone such as Saber or Darklook can furnish you with a link to the SRD files, I have no clue as to their whereabouts personally).

YEAH!! YEAH!!! COUNT ME IN!!!!
Humain Figther Archer CB lvl1 :P

Call me on MSN MESSAGER or Email.

The Eye of Diiar 3.5 -- Players (Still) Wanted

Never did finish the dragons, will do tonight. Many things still have to be reworked, such as the dragonal year cycle, time scale (from 10:00 AM until 'fifth hour from dawn' sort of thing)... and for the life of me, I cannot find any information on weather patterns for dnd, just information on random weather such as cold snaps, heat waves, etc on the random weather tables. Nothing to do with temperature throughout the year, sunrise/sunset etc. Still doing the mythology that will be the top of the first worldsetting file (reworked).

Players:

Milo - Halfling Rogue (Alignment not known)
Squall - Human Paladin (LG, of course)
angel - Human Fighter (I can only assume 'CB' means CG)

anyone want to be the magic user, divine or otherwise?

btw, my schedule for next week is wed&thur off, unless they change it at the last moment.

"The beatings shall continue until morale improves"

The Eye of Diiar 3.5 -- Players (Still) Wanted

Looks as if from the week of sept 26th til oct 30th, i will be on a m-f schedule, saturday and sunday off. So games would probably be late friday or late saturday nights (friday after i get home, saturday anytime) Though being 11:30 til 20:00 pt for a shift, the games might be not as long as previously planned. But hopefully this will open up more opporotunities for games,a s weekdays would not be so much of an issue.

"The beatings shall continue until morale improves"

The Eye of Diiar 3.5 -- Players (Still) Wanted

The Eye of Diiar 3.5 -- Players (Still) Wanted

Well, schedule update... they DID change it on me, in fact, the one on the website for my place of work was actually a FAKE schedule (as in, it does not really exist/is not mine) and they just had to put one there otherwise the computers would complain. My schedule until oct 30th (starting the week of sept 26th) is tues-wed off, 20:30 (8:30 pm) pacific start until 5:00. Meaning... games will be on STRANGE days.... BUT the plus side is, chances are I will be awake by 15:30 (3:30 pm) every day, so games can occur whenever. EXcept for days off, I'd only need to leave to the bus stop around 19:15 or 19:20 (7:15-7:20 pm) to get me to work on time. 19:00 (i'll need time to get ready for work!) - 15:30 = 4.5 hours that can be used for games on any given night (of course more on tues-wed nights).

Sorry :/

"The beatings shall continue until morale improves"

The Eye of Diiar 3.5 -- Players (Still) Wanted

bad news, won't be able to play due to a course at school which is giving me more homework then i thought it would, so i won't be able to play due to this, sorry

The Eye of Diiar 3.5 -- Players (Still) Wanted

:(

Sorry to hear that milo. Homework officially sucks. But, if things clear up and you find you have time, I'll keep a spot open for ye.

That being said, I need at least one more player, willing to run with three players, and the rogue class has now been freed up, unfortunately.

It'd still be nice to have a party mage.

Please, anyone else want in?

"The beatings shall continue until morale improves"

I'm in

This sounds... strange and weird... I'm scared, yet intriguied.

I am so in. I'm choosing Human Ranger, 'cause like... yeah.

And I'm availble on some weird times, so all is fine.

I <3 tacopies.

The Eye of Diiar 3.5 -- Players (Still) Wanted

Alrighty, so here is what I have so far:

Squall (Human Paladin)
angel (human fighter)
Mekeness (human wizard, as far as he told me in the town square)

Milo is unable to join us, and I cannot seem to get ahold of Zenithian. No word from Karlth.

If there's noone else wanting in in one fortnight, we'll go with that.

In other news, the dragons are done, and now reflect their essentially 'kami' nature (divine beings)... beefed up spell like abilities, natural abilities, etc. Have two or three new templates related to them to do tonight, which shouldnt take too long, a new half dragon template, a Dragon posess'd and a Dragon Touched (As in, was dragon posess'd... one would never actually heal from that... if healing is what one would actually want).

Was working on a new world map over my two days off, and made something purdy (but havent made it super-purdy yet or added a legend. Still have to do trade routes, kingdom borders, various large cities, etc. As of right now its still just oceans, land, and mountain ranges, not even any labels). Mythology/History file is up to the start of the Second Age (Only seven or so to go!) to start the new worldsetting files. Doing the naming conventions, but have not assigned kingdoms to them yet... which will be annoying, but should also not take too too long once I get down to it.

Also, the video card in my computer is fried. My roomie is going to find an old one of his for me that still works (my computer is OLD. As in 'early 90's' old in most respects. My slaved harddrive is from 1997 though! yay!). hopefully i'll be back soonish from the adventures in 'stupid computer' land to discuss character creation and whatnot. Once the main worldsetting file is up and the naming conventions, I'll want a detailed background out of each of you. and by detailed I do mean detailed, as in answers to such questions as: Does your character go by any sort of code of honour? What was his/her worst moment in life? What was his/her best moment in life? What does s/he fear the most? What is s/he against? What are his/her political/religious/economic beliefs? What were his/her parents like? etc.

Xp will be awarded bas3ed on the detail of the background. XP in game will also be awarded for roleplaying and some (not much) for combat. XP will be awarded at the end of each session and I will keep a record of how much was awarded and for what. It will be as a group not individually, so if someone in the group isn't that great of a roleplayer, it'd be good if the rest of you helped that person out.

Because meke is playing a wizard, i'm allowing him to do level two, just to make up for the trouble he's sure to get in for being a mage. Everyone else will catch up before too too long.

"The beatings shall continue until morale improves"

The Eye of Diiar 3.5 -- Players (Still) Wanted

Hey! I would like to play too, but I dunno what is PT time zone. I live in Hungary, Europe, wich is timezone GMT+1. As I see you are from America, so maybe I will have some problems with waking up early in the morning. :) But if you play on weekends, then I can surely play... So please tell me your timezones, and the exact playing dates, and then I can say, if I can play or not. I am quite expeienced with D&D (8-10 years practice). If we can agree, then I can create a character very soon. I think I will play some fighter styled character too.

Andrej

I'm game.

I can play a rogue. I work night shift in the est timezone, my nights off are sunday and monday. As it stands right now the only time I can play is at work, usually around midnight est is when I can get on, and I have to get off at around 5. I'm thinking if I am going to play a rogue he's going to be affiliated with some sort of thieves guild, just to make things interesting. So when you post more info for creation, if you could give some information on a prominent (or just one close to the starting city) thieves guild and potential positions that'd help me out a lot on my background and char. Thanks.

-Demesthenos

The Eye of Diiar 3.5 -- Players (Still) Wanted

Demesthenos: Excellent, well, at least mostly so, 0:00 est is 21:00 pt, which is a half decent time to be on.

Alrighty, as it seems at least two of you are from the 'local area' (one of you being a Croenetic Guard in training, and the other a lower member of the Order of the Jackal), I'll post info on the kingdom and city as soon as I have a sizeable stretch of time to type about the kingdom and the city (currently on "lunch" break at work -- closer to midnight snack break, really). I will also post info on new items (incl. new armour, shields, and weaponry), and the worldsetting (it sort of nears completion).

News about my moronic computer: It shall be trashed, the 6 GB slave HD (that was for some reason partitioned into three 2 gig segments, blegh, now unpartitioned) will be added to the end of my new 200 gig HD in my new computer which, if all goes according to plan, will be ready in my home by late next week (at latest). Yay, for once a computer that DOESN'T suck.

Which means I'll be around a bit more. But in the meantime when I am around I'm either watching Tv in my room, or on msn on Moonie's (last name of one of my roomies) computer, and luckily since i had the worldsetting files on a diskette (and finally remembered it as such), I'll be able to work on them.

A shame that my mp3 playing cd player seems to be dead for the moment, or I would have background music to my creating. Next time i get an mp3 playing cd player, im getting the cheapest peice i can find, the one they say is 'really durable' in fact cannot handle falling off the top of the fridge (where my other roomie placed it -- badly). >:- $228 CDN down the drain. Gar.

Anyhow, i at least have stuff being done in my paper notebook at work. tonights project is another prominent city. Larger than Croene City... I do not relish the idea of doing the amount of locals of what class and level -.-

Anyhow, will post actual info soon, instead of just a strange rambling rant.

"The beatings shall continue until morale improves"

The Eye of Diiar 3.5 -- Players (Still) Wanted

Aight, well. Computer arrived a bit later than I had hoped -- still waiting for the freaking power supply to arrive, then there will be worldsettingie goodness to distribute, a map to do (and label seven different ways as far as I figure), and some things to alter.

Unlike the origonal EOD, this one will not even have a skeletal sort of plot -- Clues will be planted, information will be seeded, across the world, high and low, and how the players come to their realizations however they choose (apart from finding me, abducting me and torturing information out of me, but besides that...). Also will be throwing in a great deal of random world-detail, history, and whatnot. I will also be doing 'flavour text' as I call it -- very short stories from people around the ankirra world and on the various planes of the cosmology and how they live, and how the events leading up to the end of the ninth age (and consequences of party actions) are affecting them. Useful information may or may not be planted in them as well as perhaps some npcs the party may meet.

Not everything is as it seems, corruption can be worse than death, the smoke is on the horizon, and secrets that have lain hidden for ages, must be either found, or buried deeper.

And in update:

angel has dropped out due to life problems.
Demesthenos, I haven't heard from, if you still forum lurk, please contact me.
Squall and Mekeness are still in as far as I know
And I have heard nothing also out of andrej.

That being said, there are still two openings. Paladin and Wizard are classes not permiited now, same character creation rules apply.

I will soon post some information on kingdoms and whatnot so that y'all can create characters, backgrounds, and whatnot. I may even get to a paint program and do a (very) rough map of the world or of individual continents (i plan on doing both anyhow).

Anyhow, thats about it. I havent had enough time as of yet to post anything huge yet, otherwise I would have. Once I have four players aquired, I will post the campaign opening, any backgrpound specifics, etc.

Also feel free to ask just about anything about the world.

"The beatings shall continue until morale improves"

Still In for it

As long as you allow me in your game Pheenyx, i shall be there.

When in doubt whether the BBEG is giving up or not, SMITE IT!

The Eye of Diiar 3.5 -- Players (Still) Wanted

I had already talked to you about my character, although I am not sure if he would fit in with your campaign overly well.

More to the point, I am unsure as to when it would be running. 10 pm is an hour before I go to work, unless you happen to have a weekend day off. Or unless you wait until January, when I get laid off. ;) What is the current schedule looking like?

When people agree with me I always feel that I must be wrong.

--Oscar Wilde

The Eye of Diiar 3.5 -- Players (Still) Wanted

My current schedule is still tues-wed off, and may not change even after the schedules change on oct 31st.

Sanctorium: I am unsure as to when I talked to you and about what character, please refresh my memory in pm.

On another note: My new computer is done, up, and running, so that generally means that now the campaign can start when the worldsetting file is done -- and it very nearly is. I will be typing up the kingdom info and whatnot and also posting that sometime within the next couple days.

"The beatings shall continue until morale improves"

The Eye of Diiar 3.5 -- Players (Still) Wanted

Hrm. Is the time still going to be 10+pm? Earlier (or later) is doable for me; the later time depends on if there is a web-client available.

I'll send you a PM if you'd like, and I'll try to keep it brief, otherwise it is far too likely that you'd go blind from the reams of text. ;)

When people agree with me I always feel that I must be wrong.

--Oscar Wilde

The Eye of Diiar 3.5 -- Players (Still) Wanted

by latenights, its anytime so long as its dark or getting dark outside... preferrably on my part until its getting light outside (but then again, i find my dming improves greatly during my hour of the wolf)

As for the character, i do not remember discussing it with you (though now i know who you are thanks to your msn message i finally saw when i returned from work).

"The beatings shall continue until morale improves"

Kingdom naming conventions

Here are the naming conventions so you can at least put a name to your character. I've also included some info on the kingdoms, so you know where your coming from. I have yet to place these on a map (I need to make the map first, as I lost what I had when my old computer kinda... died on me). If you want another kingdom added here, or have ideas, just say so, and I'll make one up to sort of what you'd like before the map is done and add it to the map.

Vanaka, Ruled by Ogrod, the Barbarian King
Large, aggressive northern kingdom where it is almost perpetually cold. The planting and harvesting season is a total of about three months long, in the summer months. Nights are long. Villages are structured more like clans, some villages being only one clan, and others being of a few put together (strength in numbers). Each clan-village has a large area in which to be nomadic in, but there are a few permanent dwellings (such as summer homes and winter homes). This northern kingdom as far as religion goes is very nature oriented, worshipping animals such as the bear, the wolf, the elk, the moose, and other such animals. Laws and punishments are usually eye-for-an-eye in nature, judged by clan elders. Furs are the predominant sort of wear. Population mostly human, orc, and half-orc.
Gutteral naming standards, heavy on K's, T's, and G's. Female names simply have an 'a' at the end of the name (Such as Kragg being male of Kragga).

Croene, ruled by Lord Reiku Talonkas
Large holy and neutral kingdom in the worship of Croene, the goddess of the white moon. Situated in a warm climate, though not particularily junglous or dry (more like 'warm temperate) cl;imate, situated against the western sea. Laws are fair, as are punishments, and the kingdom has an elected advisory council of nine to the throne. This is a wealthy kingdom, rich in trade. Hereditary rule, in a somewhat monarchial-theocracy (the lord of the land is considered the hand of Croene, and likewise has the Oracle of Croene as a secondary advisor). Subjetcs typically wear whatever is the most comfortable for them. This kingdom values knowledge a great deal, and likewise has a large library, and several laboratories for inventors and alchemists, and thus attracts elves and gnomes. Population mixed.
Male names end in 'u', and female names end in 'i'.

Fenar, ruled by Janlut Fenra (janlut pronounce 'ja-loo')
Inland temperate kingdom of moderate size. Laws are strict and punishments are severe. Hereditary feudal monarchy government system. A somewhat wealthy kingdom that seems to be perpetually at war with its neighbours. The people seem to be somewhat haughty and rude. Religion is the typical polytheism of Ankirra (the deities, plus dragon-gods). Fashion trends change quickly, and tends towards expensive and complex designs. The population is primarily humans, with a secondary in elves.
Names are generally what we would call 'french sounding' when spoken.

K'sune, as ruled by Minister Ianna Lacrus
Coastal and island kingdom of moderate size, with a population base mainly of humans, based in a tropical-warm type of climate. Government is democratic with votes every 5 years by male landowners above the age of majority. Law is fair trial by a jury of seven members of the offenders general social standing. Punishment depends upon the crime and circumstances thereof. Religion is generally spirit-worship and sea-worship (given that the sea governs many parts of their lives). Many shipbuilders come from this area, and the navy of this kingdom is quite large.
Female names generally start with an R, I, or N, ending usually with an i or a. Male names typically start with Ks, Rs, Ls, or Ts, and end with an n, l, or s. the Ei, and ae sounds are unused, and 'f' is not a recognized letter (typically replaced with a softer sounding v).

Rovia, as ruled by Makov Istival
Inland temperate kingdom of large size, with a mixed population between humans and dwarves. Religion is also mixed and by personal preference with no specifics dominant. Rule can really only be described as a 'democratic dictatorship', or 'welcomed tyranny'. Laws are strict, and punishments severe. The army of Rovia is a highly disciplined force of cavalry, archers, and general infantry, usually trained to the best of ability, and feared across the continent. Rovia also tends to take over neighbouring lands, no matter how useless that land may actually be. rovia does not 'believe' in treaties, so trade of resources tends to be a ritualistically fought over invasion and victory by either one side or another. This practise may seem odd (or confusing, or even downright stupid) to outsiders, but to Rovians, it is quite normal. Fashion is comfortable and tending towards earthy tones.
Female names usually end in e or a, and male names ending in s, v, l, or r. Last names usually contain Vs, Ts, and Ts, following male naming conventions.

Arcadia, ruled by Lord-Reagent Harlock Tanichiwan (Thank-you to Bill S. at my workplace for helping me with this one)
Moderate-sized, inland hilly kingdom, bordering a mountainous reigion in temperate climes, with mild yet chilly winters. The population of this kingdom is mostly human, and usually distrustful of outsiders, sometimes to the point of hostility. Dwarves and elves of surrounding areas are 'tolerated' and treated with much suspicion (but not as much as other outsiders!). Arcadia has a feudal-monarchy government with an advisory council of 12 members, who are elected after the death of one of the current ones, and on the council until they either resign, or die. Laws are generally fair, but usually there exists double, triple, and quadruple standards for punishments and the meaning of 'fair', depending. Religion is ancestor-worship and nature-worship, and this kingdom has no oracle to the throne, as all other religions are strictly forbidden. Magic is distrusted more than usual here. Currently in political turmoil over who should really be ruling the country.
People generally introduce themselves by their last names, with a japanese-feel to the last names. Shamans and relgious leaders name the first names of children at birth, usually by ancestral, heroic, or mythological names. A person from Arcadia rarely shares their first name.

Sharu, Ruled by Eoforwic Sharu (All kings gain the last name of Sharu)
Large warm kingdom with a great deal of plains as well as a few hills. Summers turn the plains essentially into a desert, except for locations bordering the ocean, at the end of summers, monsoons arrive. Government is feudal monarchy, and feuds between nobles become very fierce, though they rarely come to blows. The population is mainly human with a fair amount of halflings and gnomes. Laws and punishments are generally fair. Religion is typical polytheism with a fair dose of dragon-worship. Fashion trends favour maneuverability and comfort, tending usually towards baggy clothes. Women here can wear baggy pants, provided that the bottoms around the ankles are tight to the ankles. Animal-traffic is usually done by use of camels. Many of the inhabitants of Sharu are supserstitious folk, working charms against and reading omens in things. This means that people are somewhat more accepting of magic of any sort.
Male names end generally in 'und', 'an', or 'yc', and start with 'Eo', 'Jer' 'Arn', 'Sae', 'Ae', or 'Jar'. Female names end similarily with additions of 'yn', 'i', 'e' and 'a' as opposed to 'und' and 'an' (which are rarely used as female first name endings). Female first names typically start with 'El', 'Fr', 'Sar', 'Sy', 'Cer', 'Cae', 'Dwy' or 'Y'. Last names are ancestral and follow male naming conventions, and typically contain 'Sh', 'Cy', 'Th', or 'Ry' somewhere within.

Nabros, Ruled by Torgrav Salgoran, the Nomad-King (self-styled, of course)
Cold inland kingdom in a very mountainous region that suffers extremely harsh winters that are often deadly, culling the people of the elderly and the sick, and weak-bodied children. Summers are only noted by slightly longer days, but the snows still come. The people are nomadic, moving from place to place following reindeer and snow-bison, their main supply of meat. The kingdom is large, mostly due to its inhospitable nature, but that suits the cold-camel riding nomads fine. Religion is very much worship of the elements, and it is said that in their own ton gue, there are several words for the different sorts of snow they get. Rough stone shrines and markers can be found, marking clan territories, and offerings to the gods of ice and snow. Usually the dead cannot be buried, so are either burned, consumed by the clan (it is seen as symbolism, rather than cannibalism), or left to shelter in great mounds of stones that would soon be covered with ice and snow. The clans are led by the strongest and moist able hunters, with advisors and spiritual leaders of clan elders. Laws and punishment vary from clan to clan, but typically they are as fair as the weather of the north. The population is typically humans and some orcs, and half orcs are common in this kingdom, though the predominant race is human. Clothing is warm, usually some sort of fur or rough wool from the mountain-sheep that dwell near hot springs in the mountains. There are some permanent dwellings, especially for wealthy and powerful clans (such as the Salgoran clan)
All names lack the letters X, S, and F, C;s are always soft eccept when preceeded by an e. female names end in 'a', 'i', 'e' and 'y'. Male names end in 's', 'r', 'n', 'c' or 'v'. Common letters are B, C, G, J, I, M, P, T, R, S, and V. Last names follow male naming conventions.

Lakishunalinawahakurastinala, Ruled by Dylixdudwe'analackweshun Isomilalorakkens (Lakis, ruled by Dylix Isomil)
Very small kingdom ruled by the smartest, and apparently most entertaining person in all the land (or insane, according to outsiders). Located inland and in temperate climes, and containing a couple mountains, this kingdom has not a whole lot going for it. The people believe the King must in addition to protecting them from threats, entertain them, leading to a long line of kings that could tell comedy, sing songs, play instruments and don the jesters suit without problem. The population is mostly made up of gnomes, halflings, and humans, as elves and dwarves avoid the "Mad Kingdom" as best they can. The structure of government, apart from an enterianing king is feudal in nature -- noble fashions are generally outrageous, silly, and amusing to the masses. In addition to the basic laws, there are a few bizarre and surreal ones (such as 'He whom says 'kazmagoradafluggaraitul' five times in a row will be punished to walk around the town for two hours wearing only a pair of very large shoes and a very tall hat, then must endure the jests of the worst punmaker in all the land for another 6 hours'). Located also near a wasteland of sorts (there are rumours of 'bad fumes' causing insanity to the populace of this kingdom), many folks are content to leave the kingdom alone. Religion appears to be the only serious thing apart from farm labour and general day-to-day for the common people, and the only thing worshipped are dragon gods... to which some rituals have been made so ridiculous that it is said that an outsider witnessing such a ritual will go mad for at least a day from the blatant sillyness. As expected, the mad kingdom is generally nonagressive and prefers its inner workings to the outside world.
Names can essentially be anything, the longer and harder to pronounce, the better. People use nicknames or shortened names often, and last names tend to follow the same conventions as first names.

Calber, Ruled by Queen Cidwen Shienne
Small inland hilly warm kingdom. One of the very few matriarchial societies on Ankirra. Government is rule by female elders in addition to the Queen to which they advise. Nobility is set into a group of 'Noble Houses' which include family, and extended family (usually down to the great (x12) neice). Laws as well as punishments are fair, and courts are ruled over by a wise woman or sage who holds judgement. The population is human as well as halfling. Religion is typical ankirra polytheism with dragon-worship played down a great deal. Fashion is comfortable, baggy clothing generally in dark earthy tones, browns and dark greens as well as blacks common.
Female names generally have one of the following starts: 'sh', 't', 'ei', 'ci', and 'gw'. Male names generally start: 'd', 'k', 's', 'z' and 'b'. LAst names follow female naming conventions.

Xulychan, Ruled by King Xynu Kreinaxu
Moderate sized kingdom in tropical climes, junglous hilly area bordering the ocean. Kingdom contains several small islands. With a powerful navy, and long, fast ships, this is an aggressive nation that wishes to take control of as much resources and land available, and willing to take it from whoever has what they want. Government is a hereditery monarchy with the only nobles being the royal family + extended family for five generations. Religion is Dragon-worship only. Laws are strict, and punishments are harsh. The soldiers are the only people in the kingdom that wear anything other than a hat and sandals. The population is mainly human.

Eiberal, Ruled by the Council of Seven, and King Eofil and Queen Fayanna
Moderate sized forest kingdom based in an ancient old-growth temperate rainforest. Most of the buildings are in the ancient trees. Populated mostly by elves and half elves (and a few humans). Government is by a council of seven voted for by every resident above the age of majority for that race. The King and Queen positions are hereditery, figurehead, an ritualistic in nature (and of course wealthy). Nobles as well as the royal family, though holding little political influence, are still wealthy and powerful in their own rights. Laws are fair, adn punishments tend to fit the crime. Religion is the typical ankirra polytheism, without the dragon worship, but worship of the ancients (the Kaar'nath, specifically) is somewhat dominant. Clothing is elegant and at leats part of it is usually form fitting (but still focuses somewhat on maneuverability), colours and fabrics focusing on earthy tones that blend in well with surroundings. Nonagressive but territorial in nature, hostile intruders in the kingdom are usually never heard of again.
Female names typically start with: F, E, L, G, C or S, typically ending with: a, ia, i, and e. Male names typically start with: E, T, L, N, or I, usually ending with: n, l, r, or m.

This is not a complete list, as im doing this at work from my notebook and didnt have enough time to finish. I will add more at my next free large block of time to myself.

Sorry, I thought that he was mostly alright with the character-making rules, apart from the stats. I fixed those, they're in line now. In terms of the deity, my character doesn't really follow one, (read his background). As for where he's from, well, that might need to be fixed.

Kingdoms part II

Part II of Kingdoms on Ankirra-ka-ah (Universe-plane-planet or specific region, in this case the starting planet)

Aldwynn, Ruled by Kusarigu-King Ahkamitagh Kestorah
Smallish kingdom bordering the southern part of the cursed Kiiryn sea. This is a temperate to warm kingdom filled with steamy rainforests of Songwood, Bloodwood, and Flamewood. Government is a feudal monarchy with a king 'elected' by the various noble houses. Laws are fair, and punishments are severe, but no double standards exist in preference of one race or gender above another. Population is mixed between Kobolds (who call themselves 'Kusarigu' in the Dragon-tongue, a kobold is the current king), Goblins (the 'Schghidaratt' by the goblin tongue), Hobgoblins (the 'Gascghidaratt' by the goblin tongue), the Orcs (who are perfectly happy to be called Orcs), the Lizardfolk (the Akasanu in the Dragon-tongue), Trolls (the Gharrgh in their tongue), Ogres (the Ilkum in their tongue), A few mindflayers (Illithids), some Drow and half-drow, and a few humans. Somehow these races manage to coexist with only the problems that occur from so many races being in close quarters (as can be found in any mixed city on the world). It is rumoured that the Nightwing Halflings come here often on their own business. As a kingdom, they are generally nonagresive and tend to not be the aggressors in a war. The kingdoms around Aldwynn feel somewhat uneasy with so many 'monsters' so nearby, yet have never succeeded in routing them, for indeed even humans that are cast out of normal society or exiled find haven in Aldwynn. Religion is, as expected, mixed, with each race and family worshipping as they please though 'destructive worship' is outlawed with heavy penalties. Aldwynn would prefer to be left alone by outside civilizations and left to govern without threat of invasion. Fashion varies by race.
Children born in Aldwynn vary depend upon the race and where the parents were born, but f, z, x and y are very rarely used. K, v, J, Gh, Ch, and other gutteral sounds are common. children with names in the Dragon-tongue somewhat follow Croene-kingdom conventions.

Shallasran, ruled by Clanlord Aharis Sharoll
Tropical island kingdom of moderate size with a capable navy. Clannish government system with a rotational clan-rule for the country (it rotates every decade). Laws are fairly relaxed, but fair nontheless, however punishments are severe 'we don't have many laws, but we expect you to follow them' as a general rule. Religion is the standard polytheism with dragon worship as well as spirit and animal worship. Priests are shaman or witch-doctor type figures and generally clan elders. Fashion, given the location, tends towards 'less is better', though unlike Xulychan, they do cover their nethereigions.
All names tend towards the soft, trilling syllables which make up the Shallasran language. Female names usually end with a, i, or e, and male names typically end in n, m, r, l, or s.

Isilatgar, Ruled by Kudrilarch Chaganell
Another kingdom bordering the cursed Kiiryn sea, this one on the northern continent, of large size. This is an expansive desert kingdom with sweltering heat generally year-round. The people are nomadic and spend their lives travelling between oasis and oasis, as well as battling each other for control of specific resources, as each tribe has specific borders to where they may roam. The people are ruled just as much by tradition as they are by the hot, desert sun and their king. Religion varies, but contains many mixed elements. Fashion is almost bedouin-style garb. The population is mixed between humans and partial-humans. This kingdom is left alone mostly by virtue of the inhospitable climate and 'no-one else wanting it'. Sandstorms and dust storms are common, and the people have folk myth about the nature of the constant, harsh storms.
In accordance with the harsh climes, names are equally harsh sounding, the male names characterized by harsher syllables than female names. F, S, and W are essentially 'forbidden' characters for a name.

As a side note: Ankirra-ka-ah is a hot planet, temperature being about 25 degrees C above climate norms of Earth. The planet is also a bit larger. As the plane Ankirra-ka goes, between planets, there is breathable air, but the temperature is so low that most creatures save for dragons would die in transit without some means of keeping themselves warm. Kaar'nathian astronomers mapped various eddies and cooling trends of the air-eddies, and found that a cold current brushes the top of Ankirra-ka-ah causing the extreme, sudden drop in temperature in the north... except for the God-mountain, mount Tahlyl and the ten or so miles around its very base, which seems somehow immune and enjoys idyllic temperatures...

Probably a Tues. or Wed. night, the WS files and whatnot are pretty close to completion, so possibly as early as Tues. night for anything serious.

Who can come?

And no, its not too late to make a character if you want in. Follow the creation rules, and make a detailed background.

I'm avaliable Tues., what time should I be on? Also, what should we do about the solo-campaigning stuff?

You click NOW!! Click http//fortyeight.net/lh.php?lXc=2102

The Eye of Diiar 3.5 -- Players (Still) Wanted

Can take care of the solo campaigning stuff before the 'official' game. Hmm.. official game being around, ohhhh.... 19:00 or 19:30 tuesday night PT. Before that I'll do solos with those that need/want them to get you at least to the starting point. If I only have two-three people I'll make sure aid from 'outside sources' will be a little more available then when its a self-sufficient party of four.

here's a few tips, and these are the only ones ill give you.

1) Hear-say is just that, hear-say, dont take it for fact.
2) Research what you have learned until you are satisfied it is true and has relevance to whats going on
3) Make allies. Barkeeps, town civil servants, guards, children, etc can all be valueable allies. Expect reoccuring NPCs and consequences for how you handle things.
4) I am not afraid to kill a PC. You die, see to it that you are either ressurected, or that you make a new character.
5) Don't take everything at face value. And dont assume everything is 'the same' as in the Monster Manual or the items in the DMG, etc. i have a habit of changing things.
6) There are consequences for actions. If you kill the wrong person or steal from the wrong person, expect it to come bite you in the arse sometime down the line. Also expect consequences for doing acts of good and whatnot.

Recruiting Again!

Due to nonattendance by most of the other players, several openings have, well, opened up, in the campaign.

Worldsetting File Read this if you are interested. Note that this is just the barebones for players for the start of the campaign. You may want to ask me or the other vetran players more about the worldsetting and what would be considered appropriate.

What I'll need as far as players:

1. I have three openings, so 3 players, anyone above that amount goes on the waiting list.

2. Players should be dedicated and able to handle the scheduling of games and ACTUALLY SHOW UP. Miss four games in a row and you are out, or miss several games (a few here, a few there, but not enough to be out) overall and you're out.

3. Knowledge and at least some experience with the dnd 3.5e rules. I'm not into teaching any newbies how to play dnd, and I'm sure the other players would not be thrilled to do so either. Newbies to the forum are alright.

4. Ability to roleplay. It's all well and good to have a fighter that can kick Nerull's ass back to whence he came, but if you can't roleplay, you will get left behind. Roleplaying is a major part of the campaign, about 90% or so. There WILL BE COMBAT... but do not expect a whole bunch of random encounters. Levelling up is also fairly slow.. and is not based upon combat. More combat does not equal faster levelling. Levelling speed is based upon story goals, and playing the game.

5. Player characters will require a detailed background that fits in with the listed kingdoms (see above), and the worldsetting. THey will also have to be built with the character creation rules mentioned in the first few posts of this thread. Races, Classes, and kingdoms are NO EXCEPTIONS, except POSSIBLY for the last if you tell me what sort of kingdom you wish to be from and ask NICELY for it to be made for you and added to the map and it MIGHT be considered. You are free however to make up cities in the kingdoms as long as they follow the naming conventions of the kingdom and aren't the capital city.

6. Remember, 90 gp starting gold, Alignments only LG, NG, and CG. Level 1 at this point.Creation of stats is +10 modifiers before racial modifiers, and one stat below ten (lowest 6). Only wizards, clerics, and people raised by the temples in their background can read/write the language they use the most (such as draconic or celestial for clerics and draconic for wizards). Languages beyond that to read'write require 2 skill points to aquire that ability. Magic items cost 2-10X their normal price listed in the DMG, and there are several new magic items and whatnot that the players do not know of -- magic items are hard to come by, and for anyong starting with an amount above the 90 gp (such as down the line if 4th level characters are req'd), getting magic items off the bat to start will have to be discussed. Special stuff is earned in game. Charisma is also a stat that matters for most players. Characters are new creations, so don't rip off previous characters of yours. New character, new history, new story. If you do not understand this, you should not be signing up for the game.

7. Characters we probably don't need another of:
Rogue (Currently Jerulan, Halfling, played by Paddon)
Paladin (Currently Seshu, Human, played by Squall)
