I am having trouble logging in and staying on. The system always retruns this message:

Disconnected from server on "....."
Drop by error<<--,Server drop, ISP issues.

Can this be from the company server I am on, and it's firewall/proxy? Is there a ay around that if that is the problem, like putting a proxy port number in the program options/preferences?

Or is this just the Opnpw server having probs?

Can't log in "server drop, ISP issues"

Well,
What version are you using? [Help->About]
What server are you connecting to? [Login Screen, Right Click Profile]
What time? Firewall or such shouldn't be much of a problem, we'll see.

Same issue.

Yeah, same issue. Newest version of the program, tried the default and backup servers, both do the same thing. Am wondering if it's the time? I know it's pretty late, but I was on here this late before, so I doubt it's that but it could be. Very odd. I've even tried logging in under another name, and yet same problem.

Any other suggestions for what might fix this?

If your proxy blocks outgoing port 4050/4051 then OPnPW won't work. Check with your IT guys.

Alright. I don't know, just rather odd cause it was working fine before and now it's not. But yeah, I'll holler at some people to see if I can find out what's causing the problem. Thanks.

Just a thought but if it worked before it might be the thing....

did you try out the backup server yet? may be it is not working because the default server is down??

Don't argue with idiots. They will drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Have you done anything different since your prior use? Like an update that involved a certain system files?

I was in the middle of a game when I got that same error message, and I couldn't get back in for a while. Then about 40 mins or so after I was kicked off, I was allowed to login. I was able to play a little bit, about 20 mins. or so, and then was kicked off. My DM (We were doing 1-on-1) also faced this inability to log on, so the problem wasn't our individual computers.

I get the same error. I have the 2.0.10 version. WinXP Pro. I had the same problem with 2.0.9 so I upgraded and get the same error. I get a different error if I check auto login on my profile in the logon box. I pops up an error message with a line number which I sent to you. IE error number 5, line 639. Doesn't matter which server. 2.0.9 worked the last time I used it a while ago. The only major change to my system I can think of is I have downloaded and installed XP's service pack 2.

I messed with this a little more. I can now get into the backup server. Maybe the main is down. I did notice something that may have a basis on the popup error. On the logon popup window if you press edit and go into the edit window when you exit editing the profile line is blank. You can press login with a blank profile. If you do this takes you to the skin directory when you hit cancel you get a similar error message to the autologin one. You prob shouldn't be able to login with a blank profile.

I think Tux runs the backup from his own box, so when he leaves at night he turns it off (i think he mentioned something about overheating a long while ago, i could be wrong though), and hence, the backup server goes with him.

The main server sometimes has... issues. Nothing that Tux has any control over, however (or so he has said when I have asked him).

All it is is a waiting game til morning (or whenever the backup is turned back on), or til the main comes back.

To Tux: Whatrever happened to that news announcement script you had at one point at the top of the main forum page about server status and whatnot? Perhaps it could be added here by some means to show what servers are up and when they came up/went down? Might help with some of the 'aaagh! can't connect!' problems from new folks who wonder if the 'ISP Issues' are from their isp.

Also, I'm definetly changing the message that OPnPW displays on a disconnect.

Edit:
Update:
Main server should be up now.
Backup is turned off when I goto sleep, its rather loud.

News Script:
I don't have any news to report right now.

Feel free to ask any questions.

Oh and Main is still offline. Backup is working.

Yurith, please don't do that.

Don't post within another person's topic unless it has something to do with it. Start a new one instead.

But most importantly this is a support forum, those posts would be more proper in general in off-topic conversation, or under a new topic.

Thanks.

WTF! I was tellling everyone - on this very thread about the main server not working - that it wasn't working and the backup is. By the way, that status is still true.

Hi everybody!
Hi Dr. Nick

Have you read the posting guidlines that says "READ FIRST"?

Here I will copy and paste some of the parts

Before posting on the boards, consider these:
Do you know the server is up?
Have you checked the status page?
Is your version of OPnPW Current?
Is your login name correct?
Have you tried using another account?
Can others log onto OPnPW?
Have you spoken with anyone else, and found them aslo unable to connect?
Do you know what OS and version of OPnPW you're using?
If you recieve any errors, do you have them written down and the steps to cause them?

If you have ALL that, and you're sure it still needs resolving, then
Now,
Someone get on the backup server. Im bored.
Does this problem really need a developer to look into it?
No.
Oh and Main is still offline. Backup is working.
Yeah exactly, the server is down. Again no intervention needed.

Like i said, those comments doesn't seem proper where you posted them. I am sure lot of people will appreciate those annoucements though, so next time just do them in "general".

Thanks.

Ok, Darklook, dont burn my pubes of for this. I think this is appropriate for this thread and i am wondering...it is 9:32pst, which makes it 5gmt. Is the backup server malfunctioning, or is that Tux shutting down the server for the night?

21:00 PST is 24:00 EST. Server would be off at that point, won't be in the future when I colocate or offsite.

Sorry to tag onto an old thread, but it saves creating a new one since I'm getting the same problem.

I've just downloaded version 2.0.9, and can't connect. I've checked the server status page, the timer keeps updating, so I'm assuming the server's up. I've tried the default and backup servers, same result. I've told my firewall to allow the program through.

My error message is
Disconnected from Server At:11:02:24 AM on Wednesday May 23rd
Drop By Error<<--, Server Drop, ISP Issues.

Since I'm new here, I've more than likely missed something simple. Do I need to register a server account anywhere, or should it just work?

The server is currently down. Hopefully not longterm, but we won't know until Tux has the chance to check it out.

Don't let this discourage you though, we still have an active forum and a community full of people. Although many are currently inactive, most of them still lurk on the forums. Real life just gets busy at times, y'know?
