Windows XP Pro compatability

Not sure if anyone can help, but I downloaded the newest version available as of now 2.0.9 and I cannot get the program/game running. When the game attempts to start, it stops responding and shuts down, I have completely removed all traces from my system and re-installed, aswell as I tried an overlay, neither worked.

I run Windows XP Pro
I have a Intel P4 2.80 GHz chip(512 MB L2 cache), 1024 MB of DDR400 ram, Asus P4P800 M/B (with temp monitoring, definately no overheating), Raedon 9200 series Excalibur 8x AGP

Anyone have any clues, already searched for help here and found none unfortunately, all help is appreciated

turned out not to be XP, turned out it was my router(never even thought of it), while trying to fix ICQ I found that unblocking TCP 3744 has solved the problem
