DUNGEON! will be an adventure for 4 1st level PCs, DMed by yours truly. The group will start at the entrance of an ominous dungeon, and exiting the dungeon will mark the end of the adventure (thus meaning, you'll need to choose your equipment wisely as you will not be able to purchase additional equipment). There will not be any specific 'rest' areas, although resting is allowed. Of course, you will be 'resting at your own risk'.

DUNGEON! will be ready to play in, longest, one week.

This adventure will not be easy, but will be scored. This score will be based on how much gold your party accumulates (only actual coins and jewelry/gems will count; wealth from goods [enemy weapons and supplies, for example] will not count towards your score), how much experience you accumulate, and if you survived to the end (which is, if you exit the dungeon or not). I will also add a certain number of points to your score if you do something particularily impressive (come up with a good plan, risk your life for another, and so forth).

There will be a scoreboard that lists each player and their final score, as well as each party's total score.

Speaking of parties, I obviously want multiple. I am looking for at least two groups of four. There will not be any groups larger than four members. The first group can only consist of players that have not been in (this includes all of the players that were once in and no longer are) Curse of the Void (which is a very long running game of mine); after that group starts, another group can be formed only from players that have been in Curse of the Void (I want to do this to see who can get a higher score... My 'veteran' players, or some new blood.). There have been more than four members of Curse of the Void, so any additional groups made can consist of remaining players.

I highly recommend that the group be made up of one of each of the following groups (although, there's no one forcing the group to do this):

Fighter/Paladin/Barbarian/Ranger/Monk
Cleric/Paladin/Druid/Ranger
Rogue/Bard/Ranger
Wizard/Sorcerer/Bard

Clever people may have noticed a pattern as to how I've arranged the classes in each group...

Character's will be created with the Player's Handbook only (meaning no alternate races, classes, skills, feats, weapons, armor, equipment, domains, or spells). Your starting gold will be calculated as if you rolled a '3' on each of your d4 rolls (for example, Fighters would start with 180gp, Clerics with 150gp, and Wizards with 90gp). You must choose one of the following arrays as your starting ability scores:

18, 14, 12, 12, 10, 8
18, 15, 12, 10, 10, 8

17, 16, 12, 11, 10, 8
17, 14, 14, 12, 11, 8
17, 14, 12, 12, 11, 10

16, 16, 14, 12, 10, 8 <- (Recommended)
16, 14, 14, 12, 12, 10

Note: You will gain +1 to one of your ability scores at 2nd level.

Please use this thread to post what race and class your character will be and I will assign you to a group. Thank you for reading as well as your interest in this adventure!

DUNGEON! (3.5e campaign)

i assume that since you're doing this you're either completely bored with cotv, its almost over and you're choice picking your next group, or cotv is dead.
either way, i assume that you're back, at least, for a time?
whats the deal then with cotv, and the crier?

I can't see COTV dying without a proper finisher session.

I will participate if this "dungeon" starts after 17th. You will have all my character info and the character by 18th if that's the case.

Come on now guy, Opnpw isn't just a forum for game schedualing and dnd talk. Opnpw is a program which we use to play the games we schedual (or else they get stoned to death).

Download it here - http://www.opnpw.com/downloads.php

It's not a complicated program, but if you can't figure some things out on your own read this faq or ask anyone who has been around for a while.

Hmm...it sounds like the old TSR "Death Quest" stuff my dad has hidden away somewhere. Ah those good old days when I was still young to the ways of RPGing..anyways, yes what about cotv and the crier campaign? I hope this doesn't turn out to be like the bandit campaign and such, but yeah I'll be one of your 'vet' players. Good to see you back (I am close to getting Knights of Honor woo)

Updated group rosters.

Please post on this thread as to what race and class you're going to play so the other members of your party know.

Also, damn good to see such a healthy response to this idea.

Lastly, regarding Arch's plethora of ?s. CotV is not dead. I'm gonna try to organize something with all of the players (Dark included) soon, so look out for that. Regarding the duo game... Not sure with that one. It's cool and all, but I don't know where I want to go with that one.

And, as to me being back... I'll go with 'sure'.

Saber didn't say we have to be all different classes. I think two rogues combining their flanking power can be quite deadly.
(Edit: And trust me, the kind of rogue I am going for isn't really a standard type)

DUNGEON! (3.5e campaign)

well, the way i look at it, is that this is a fairly simple adventure. correct me if i'm wrong but what are the odds that we're going to be higher then level 5 when we're done this? probably slim to nil.. personally, i think wizards kinda suck until that point.
thats the second, and less important of the reasons i don't want to be a wizard.. the real reason is that my last 3 chars have all been wizards.

Same here, it would seem.

Except that with me, Melubb, and Acid, "The Mix" is officially "The Veterans, Team 2." And we're cooler than the Veterans 'cause they have Morro on their team.

What I'll be playing depends on what Melubb decides upon.

DUNGEON! (3.5e campaign)

Aye, as clearly as Saber recommends a mix of classes, a mix of Strikers, Acids, and Melubbs will clearly have an advantage. :)
well, the way i look at it, is that this is a fairly simple adventure. correct me if i'm wrong but what are the odds that we're going to be higher then level 5 when we're done this? probably slim to nil.. personally, i think wizards kinda suck until that point.
I'd like to take my time to agree with this, and at the moment, I'm not sure what advantage a wizard would have over a sorcerer. If I can think of one, I need to change my race, but if I can't, I need to change my class. :\
Well, the Newbie's group has its Tank, its Healer, and its Swiss Army Knife (many tools). We just need a Magic User if we're going to have someone from each line.
So cliche  . Wonder if "The Mix" should try a different method of stabology...

"Don't let history... happen to you."

DUNGEON! (3.5e campaign)

The estimate regarding the maxed level of this adventure is pretty correct.

I, however, make no comments regarding the usefulness of a Wizard as opposed to a Sorcerer.

You know what's really ironic? I've just derived about several pages from just that sentence alone, Saber, and yet I failed my English final unable to write a thoughtful paragraph about anything. :(

Anyway, after some careful observations, assumptions, hypothesises, and errors, I'm sticking with wizard. If you need a reason, how about: "I like a challenge."

Human Wizard, though, Gnome is too ... not good for wizard.

"Don't let history... happen to you."

Heh, all Clerics with one rogue who does dungeony stuff? Fairly safe group because of the mass healings and they can still do lockpicking/sneaking stuff : p Anyway, I am not sure what I am to be so go ahead and pick stuff.

I posted a leaderboard on the main post. Also, here is a slightly more detailed breakdown of how the scoring works.

A player's score is equal to how much exp he or she received plus any particular bonus points they earned for the party. Lastly, at the end of the adventure, their score is doubled if they exited the dungeon alive (doesn't matter when they leave the dungeon, just as long as they do).

A group's score is equal to how much exp the entire group earned, plus the total gold piece value of the treasure they find (coins and valuables only; magical items and 'goods' don't count) as well as any bonus points earned by individual players. Then, this score is multiplied. The multiplier depends on how many PCs make it out alive (x.75 if none make it out, x1.00 if one makes it out, x1.50 if two make it out, x2.00 if three make it out, and x3.00 if all players make it out).

I would like to note that you do gain exp for killing off your own party members, thereby increasing your personal score. However, this does lower your party's final score (although it does get a slight bonus due to the exp you earn for killing said party member)... And it'll likely gain the ire of your entire party, most especially the one you killed.

But hey, all's fair in love and war; besides, who knows what might be in store for those that get highest scores...?
