Hello all,

I have an issue with OPnPW that I have been trying to resolve for a few days now and I believe I have reached an empasse with it.

First, my computer isn't the computer I usually use. It is a P2 266, 64 Meg RAM. I am running Fedora Core 3 Linux (Based off of Red Hat), using OPnPW 2.09. I have also tried OPnPW 2.10 Beta with the same results.

First, I had issues with the driver files. That wasn't a big deal, I managed to find the drivers and copy them to both 'fake' windows directories for Wine to use. The drivers were as follows:
COMCAT.DLL, MSCOMCTL.OCX, MSWINSCK.OCX, RICHED32.DLL, RICHTX32.DLL, TABCTL32.OCX, and zlib.dll (I put them in the case they showed... Linux is quite case-sensitive.)

Now I can get the program to load, and even activate my profile and start loading the program. While it loads, however, I get an error report. The only problem is that it is blank, so I can't tell what else I need to do. It gives me no invalid files, no error codes, nothing. Just a simple blank screen, and blinking cursor.

For what its worth, I have tried to run it in Graphical mode via 'konsole' using this command:
'[/home/[user]/.wine/drive_c/Program Files/Online Pen & Paper World]$ wine OPnPWorld.exe'

I'm not entirely sure if anyone will be able to assist me in this, but I'm going to try another thing or two. If it works, then I will post it here. If not... well... I'll keep looking for a solution.

[Edit] Well, I thought that maybe my computer was straining too much so that it wouldn't load. I booted up in text mode to attempt to further solve the issue. This had the added benefit of showing me basically a 'debug' mode, rather than stopping once the program starting running.

It seems to catch when I double-click my profile. The only line of note that I can find that might be the reason of it stopping is this one:
'fixme:ole:CoCreateInstance no classfactory created for CLSID {d5de8d20-5bb8[rest trunceated]}

Don't know if that will help any. Will continue trying to solve issue. [/Edit]

Until next,

OPnPw was always designed as a platform to test out ideas, not platform interopability. Don't know what to tell you, because I've never bothered trying it in 'nix. If you can get WINE to run it, more power to you.

The java version will run in 'nix, but its not coming out any time soon.

Brad,

Well, I am still not completely out of ideas, will try a few other things, and post if I do find a solution.

If it doesn't work, well... hopefully my computer will be shipped from Kansas at some point in the near future. In the meantime, I will see about fixing this.

Thanks for at least looking at it, Brad. Wasn't sure if anyone else happened to know a solution or not.

Also, at the major risk of being flamed to within an inch of my life for this question... I'm running nearly on empty with ideas, and I'm almost completely sure of the answer... but...

Is there any way to connect to the server via something other than OPnP? For instance, is there a way to connect via Xchat (A mIRC utility). I do fully realize that OPnP is not mIRC, but in the interests of troubleshooting the issue, I feel it a prudent thing to ask, and remove any doubt.

I'm sure you could connect, but thats about it. Most of the transactions are compressed anddone in wierd annoations with interesting characters and such.
