how does this program handle battles for d20 systems?? me and my friends are trying to play a game online and finding sometihng that has a battle systen where we can all view the grid and whats going on is really hard

DM dictates what's going on, not much more necessary than that really. It works remarkably well for simple combat.
Descriptions! Much less boring than a grid...

If you're talking small battles, like Party of Heroes vs. a normal encounter, Acid Trees is right.
With the right amount of description, there's no need for a grid. If you're worried about placement, the players and DM just need to make sure to be clear in your placements.
If you really, really need something visual, there's always the scribblepad, which the DM can use to sketch out the placement, and then send it to the players.
If you're talking....like, armies...I don't know what to tell you....except more of the same...

As one of the many people that originally pushed for it, OPnPW's battle grid app was planned and isn't quite ready yet. We might expect it in some future release, though.

I've never really pushed hard on a battlegrid, because I've never really supported the idea.
