Wheel of Time

A number of my friends IRL used to play it. They enjoyed it. If you're a fan of the series and know a few people interested in playing with you, it sounds like it'd be a worthwhile buy.

okay, ill have to start saving up than, well, maybe not, my family loves the seies so i may get them to chip in too..lol

Go to a bookstore and take a half hour or whatever and look it over. I know most bookstores allow you to do that sorta thing. That's usually what I do when I go D&D book shopping, cuz I've purchased more than one that's not been looked at more than a few times. :(

Okay, ill probably end up doing that but i can't go whenever i want because i live 12 miles out of town and that town does not have a book store, however the on about 30some miles does and i don't have my permit yet so i have to go when my mom has work off anyways.

Or use the SRD from the wizards website to learn. That's what I done with D20 Modern since nobody else I know played it

I don't think the SRD has Wheel of Time stuff.

Source Reference Document or maybe it's System Reference Document. I can't remember.

It's pretty much all of the information in the PHB and MM... Without any descriptive text or character creation guidelines.

Ah the Wheel of Time, he better wrap up that series soon. As for playing the game, I think it could be interesting and I'm curious to see what modifications they've made. If anyone finds it, let me know.

well for wrapping it up..why? ive only read until the crowns of swords(havnt read it yet) but it just gets better and better though lord of chaos didnt hae as much action as i would have liked it was good.besides, as long as he writes more books thats longer before i hvae to switch to another series.
but anyways,, i just checked the srd site, so far its cool, ill check it more when i get home but for now i have to go, have fun.

He has gotten too rambling for my type. Introduction of literally a hundred new supporting characters, many whom I honestly don't give a fuck about. Theres more about the new Aes Sedai than Rand or Mat in some of the new books. I wish he'd have a big purge and kill some of them, I get the feeling even he has no fucking idea where hes going.

i like those kind of books, if you can track it all than you have an edge on your family..hehe, well i found a forum all about wheel of time rp stuff, i think its basically an SRD though

So its the exact opposite of George Martin then? Where any given character has no life span at all?

Have you read the latest one (Knife of Dreams)? I haven't (I gave up on the series a few chapters into Crossroads of Twilight-- which was a shame, because the end of Winter's Heart was promising... it was like OMFG, EXCITEMENT! after a long period of boring, to explain without spoiling anything-- and I probably would have to start from the beginning to refresh my memory of everything, although the first few books were the best so that's not so bad). I have heard very good things about it, and that he's gotten back to his old form.

Jordan does kill off characters (though some of them only appear to die) but the books are, or recently have been, very long-winded, so in terms of words they have long ones.

Fuck, I forgot Martin has a new book out. FINALLY! I need to find time to read...as for the Knife of Dreams, I stopped after Winter's Heart. You expect there to be excitement but its going to be a big bowl of boring unless the Dark One comes out and starts devouring souls. Come on, 12 books? How long can you extend the franchise? The 'main characters' (all like 9 of them) aren't even that special anymore, at least with Martin you know the peolpe he is introducing to be pretty important(and he kills them too :D )

Maybe you are right, I should read the latest book before making judgments but damn. It'd better rock my socks off and give me back massages while in bed because my expectations are so low...

Oh no, I wasn't saying you should read it before making judgements. Your judgements were completely justified. But that said, as Saber points out this didn't make a lot of sense.

Language Major? Try Political Science. I'm saying it better do those things to even be worthwhile reading because my expectations are so low. Even if he just killed like 5 people, maybe actually tied up some story threads...come on people, you know better than to try to make any sense out of what I say.

Never. I had to have 4th year proficiency in a foreign language for my Political Science degree. So I had to take a few Spanish classes here and there.
