New Campaign
Hello everyone I just joined the forums mere moments ago. I thought it would be rude of me to impose upon your bandwidth without letting you know what's going on that you might consider joining our adventure. A few friends of mine and I have been looking for the past...two weeks or so now for an open source server/client that had chat, possibly dice rolling, and most definitely a whiteboard for use in rping together via the internet. As soon as I gave up of course I found this. :D Fate is a tease. Now granted this doesn't quite fit the bill but in some ways this is much more advantageous in that we have a community to back us up and to befriend. My companions (there are 6 of us) should be joining us within the next few days.
I am proud to introduce my first campaign DMing, Hero's Stand. An original campaign devised by myself and a friend specifically to play with my friends away from home. I won't divulge all of the details now because some of you might wish to join us even if only for a short while. I'm thinking that I could probably handle one more person with a flexible schedule to play through the whole thing so if you're interested we're using D&D 3.5 Edition and we're starting at level 4. I am nice so I am allowing point buy all characters have 80 points.
Our heroes are a strange sort having been adapted from previous non-D&D RPs so this should make things interesting. I've made some prestige classes to try and fit them in.

Raseleane Fighter 2 Rogue 2
Lunnaei Cleric 3 Guardian of the Inriomai 1
Naru Monk 3 Hidden Village Ninja 1
Kibou Rogue 3 Nightspawn 1
Brok Wizard 4 (will be an artificer)
Some of the combinations may seem peculiar don't be afraid to ask questions my group and I have been working on these guys for three weeks so they're not overpowered and will fit into the setting that I've prepared.

Well then, since nobody else peruses the opnpw forums every five minutes like I do, allow me to the be the first to welcome you!
Welcome to you AND your friends, your company is greatly appreciated! We're always looking for newcomers, and experienced newcomers such as yourselves are especially welcome! I have to say that in my opnpw experience, very few of us actually play 3.5 campaigns. We've all come up with unique ways of transferring characters to different worlds seamlessly, so you fellas ought to fit right in! I personally have 2 low level characters, one high level character, and one character damn near epic. I'm willing to fit any need, and i'm starving for some action!
My fellow DM, we ought to discuss techniques, i'm quite intrigued to see what tidbits and odds-and-ends you have to offer us here, and also quite open to let you in on little secrets i've picked up as well! Welcome friend. I am glad to see that we have not only attracted an experienced player, but also a group and a game to go along with him :) I wouldn't mind getting in on some of the action of your game. I have an interesting character concept which at first glance might seem munchkinish, but don't worry my munchkin days are well over. I only like this concept now for its rich (and I mean rich) roleplaying opporotunities. Two things could have happened, a) you're lazy, or b) you didn't notice. There is a third option, but i'm ruling it out immediately....c) You've matured past that point

On a side note: (Rather, the side of this post which was intended to stay on topic.) If you can accept another player, I have been developing a background to use for a character. Just let me know when the game will be run and if there is room. If either doesn't fit, I would still like to discuss your campaign with you. I love player made campaigns, and I might decide to run it in real life if it intrigues me.

As much as I love my friends it has proven to difficult to even try to schedule D&D with them. One doesn't have reliable net access one I haven't heard from at all and two I don't get a hold of enough. Anyway I may do one with them at a later point but I really want to get this one started.

Hey hey. I didn't catch you the first time, so welcome aboard.
What time is 7pm? Keep in mind, virtually all of us live in different parts of the world, and thus '7pm' is a very ambigious time. EST? CST?
I might look into it if I can, but already got a game on Tuesday. What system are you running, same as before? *contemplates what 80 point buy characters look like :shock:*

Sorry about that 7 PM EST Tuesday. The date can be switched up a bit as people join to accomodate everyone. 80 point buy characters are powerhouses but not uber. They're sturdy stuff. You're going to need it though because my monsters are NOT to be taken lightly. Even the kobolds will pose a significant threat especially since they'll come in groups no smaller than 8. :twisted:
PS- as a bonus to anyone brave enough I have a class I want to experiment with that I made the first person to choose to play as it gets pockets of holding.

Indeed, what kind of class is this? I might be interested, depending on flavor.
And Tuesday's might not be the best day. Monday or the like, if you can swing it, would be much better.
And, actually, I would classify 80 point buy as 'uber' *cough* that's enough points to ensure you [i]only[/i] have 16+ abilities unless you really want a 15 or lower. And, actually, six 16's would leave 20 points left over... ;)
*contemplates* Mage... or Rogue... or new class. Well, hell, with this point spread I could do a melee favored soul...

80 divided by 6 means 13.3...
As far as the class I was talking about it I don't have a name yet but this is the concept. An enchanting cleric of a neutral god who is the god of souls. As a cleric of this god you cannot cast normal cleric spells. Instead you can enchant material to give it a personality. You can enchant three different types of "class" into the dolls that you can make out of different material. Fighter, Sorcerers, and Champions. Now this may sound like an impractical DM nightmare because of the HP tracking but here's one of the catches of the class. Your HP and their HP is tied. When they die you take HP loss. Each one holds a certain amount of your HP. Your wisdom mod decides how many you can make so wisdom for this class is key especially since your HP is tied to these little guys. I like this class because of the rich roleplay possibilities. The way I envisioned the little guys is that they'd be an exagerrated example of the player's own alignment. A good example of how this might might get entertaining is if you're neutral evil your little guys might decide to take the corpse of the person you just attacked and offer it as an offering to their dark god. Talk about awkward. Or when you're counting them up after a fight you might notice one missing. Suddenly one of the girls in the party shrieks because she found the perverted little gremlin hiding in the folds of her dress. Or if you're true neutral your guys might not do anything unless you tell them specifically to because they really don't give a rip about you.
Fighters: Melee oriented. Have really good jump bonuses. Instead of normal hands they have knives.
Sorcerers: These guys cast drawing from you as you draw from your god. They have several different spells including a golf ball sized fireball among others.
Champions: Have almost everything the others have. You can only have one of these as having more than one would cause them to fight over who's better.
These guys level up when you do. All this means is that they get more hp per because your HP goes up. Their spells per day go up as your spell level goes up. I had the progression chart worked out buy I lost it. One of the perks of this class is that you can wear heavy armor if you like because you don't have any spells to worry about. The down side is that your weapon proficiency can only be simple weapons because your god would be offended if you didn't trust him to protect you with the power you've been given. Another downside is that you have to have an int of 16 to play this class because of the immense amount of understanding it takes for this class. This is also a perk in that you want all that for skill points to craft dolls out of different material.

Ah... the old point buy system. I think most people here are much more adept with starting at 8, and incremental costs now ;). No worries, I understand now. I just didn't think you'd be using that one.
That class sounds... umm... interesting...
Yeah... please do show me a CS for it. And I'll go ahead and try to figure out how to make one, etc. I also grabbed your Yahoo ID and sent a message to it. I'll probably see if you're on another of the protocols.
I'll be a tentative for now, just because there's some... erm... intriguing possibilities there. Now if only I could make voodoo dolls...

Is it actually just like the cleric with BAB, saves, HD, Skill Points, etc? Do I get turn undead? Anything in particular?
