Solace 3.5?

so wait.. you didn't have time to play Book of Stones?

my schedule was all crazy and i was still getting accustomed to it, and i didn't think i'd have nearly as much free time as I do...But as it turns out, i find myself getting bored kind of...more often than i thought possible. I had this idea for the campaign a couple weeks ago, but pushed it out of my mind because i didn't think it would be possible, but i see now that it might be. I might even be able to play in book of stones too...I'll go post a message there now

Alright everyone campaign's almost done!
It's mine and Karlth's joint drunken D&D fest weekend this weekend coming up, and the goal is to finish off the campaign. After I'm done I'm gonna post up all the logs and details, and then I'm gonna start working on writing it into a book/bookish form.

Also, start pestering Karlth to run an online campaign after this

and what a campaign that was. it has lasted well over a year and has kept me, as a player, on the seat of my pants.

the Solace / DS system is very helpful in keeping the flow of the game and forcing the players to RP. Personally, i found it very liberating to use a system that shifted and moved around the action of the character instead of pounding my character into the mold of a rigid system. Yes it does leave a lot of discretion up to the DM, but if all is fair then you lose nothing from the reality of the action.

Solace, it was an amazing campaign and a true pleasure to be a part of. I hope Karlth felt it was a weekend worth flying up to NJ for. its inspiring enough to try and DM something myself...

you'll notice that while he didn't ask for any treats during that dissertation, he wanted some earlier, and got a maybe. therefore it is my opinion, he's kissing ass to get stuff :P

(note that ds when i saw it online, was truly awesome, so therefore i do not intend to say the aforementioned praise was incorrect, only that it was given from an impure motivation :P)

if you're talking about my post - yeah it was a compliment to the DMs involved, but it doubled as a plug for the system that the two created.

Anywho, I re-read the manual and realized how mis-written a lot of the stuff is, truth be told I don't think me or dan ever re-read it except to reference stats, which fortunately is right.

I found a lot of fallacies in it, as well as lacking explanation for certain things, and a few major things that need adjusting.

I'm probably going to do a lot of adjusting to it, and when it's done I'll re-release it here, subject to some more criticisms
