The Curse of the Void (3.5)
Let's see what kind of response this can generate:
...In the land of Igriar, ancient sages foretold of a great prophecy. A prophecy that one day, out from the void will come great evil, and it will consume the world...
Over 1,000 years ago, a band of six decided to err this prophecy. The group consisted of Ri-Ttan, a powerful, female nomad warrior raised in the harsh winds of the Vess Desert; Goramn Roacban, a dwarven priest dedicated to the powers of Fate; Eristalinthas Narivle (Eristal to his companions), a self-taught elven bowmaster; Nellin Westman, a lady's boy turned duelist; Frastan Ilvandus, an aging archmage of great repute; and Sorret Hulm, the band's leader as well as their most talented swordsman.
They decided to brave the void, located deep in the Urgsald Mountains. At the void's entrance, Eristal's valor broke and he simply refused to enter the void; he would wait for them to return victorious. The rest entered, unsure of what they were going to face. Of the five that entered, only Sorret returned, his body bloodied and weak. Eristal carried Sorret to Armast, a city located just off the mountain range; a two day's journey.
As Eristal carried the fallen warrior as fast as he could, he noticed that Sorret's skin began to slowly show a grey tinge, and was becoming very thick, almost hard. He started to become very heavy to carry, and eventually Eristal could go no further. Approximately 24 hours after Sorret emerged from the void, he had turned completely to stone.
Many visited Sorret's petrified body, and none were able to transmute him. The archmagi declared him dead shortly thereafter, and eventually Sorret's body was all but forgotten; Eristal's whereabouts eventually faded from public knowledge, and it has been said that he took his own life out of shame...
Around 50 years ago, Sorret's body was rediscovered. After a bit of research, the legend behind his petrification was once again widely known, and hundreds flocked to see his body. It is even said that many can hear things when they touch the stone. The thing most often heard is...
...The three... ...Long forgotten...
So... Any thoughts?
What I'm looking for is the following:
Four to six players interested in playing new, first level characters using 3.5 rules. Aforementioned players must be able to work out available times that they can play (Night times, please. Times during the day simply will not work.). Creativity and roleplaying skill (As in, ability to create a character with depth and personality that doesn't change session to session.) is a must; anyone that I find to be lacking will be given a warning and if no improvement is shown, they will then be removed from the game.
Please post any comments, questions, or concerns below. Thank you for your interest!
Oh, and some other notes on the world & setting:
The world is pretty low magic. Spellcasters are rare (no restrictions, though) and as such, all magic items will be very valuable. A single +1 sword will be something to treasure.
Since the world is so old, tech has started to advance some and now guns & airships are known. Airships are really expensive, and guns aren't too widely produced yet. Pistols and Muskets are currently available, but at a fairly sharp price. No one has the funds to start with one.

The Curse of the Void (3.5)
o.O Sounds cool, count me in.... and you picked the best time, night. I managed to get the 3.5 rules as of late, so I can once again be a rule monger (as all DMs love). I'm not quite sure as to what I shall be as of yet, but I shall tell you soon enough.

You know what character I'd go for...if you are still willing to do that and all of course. Might need to ask around for some help as I've never done TWF, at least not in 3.5e

Hmmm... Only two players so far. I'll give it a few more days; a week or so I guess.

The Curse of the Void (3.5)
Gah, just because it says 3.5 it doesn't mean it is overly different. Most things remain the same, however others have been changed for the better. Players will not need to buy the books to keep track of all the rules, as I am sure Saber, being the rule monger he is, shall do that for us. Join please, this sounds quite exciting; how often do you find such an elaborate story dealing with old artifacts and such? Wait, don't answer that, just post that you will play, please. I beg of all of you.

The Curse of the Void (3.5)
Dedication is a good thing as well, players who don't show up is bad, considering that Saber himself is rarely around to be a DM. Speaking of that, I still need to confer on how to make this 3.5 char, as I might be missing a few things here and there.
Lord of Castle Black and host of the never-ending party. Collects Morganti weapons and illegal books. Likes Eastern brandy, his sword Blackwand, and going on killing sprees.

I'll play for sure if there's some way i can easily get my hands on the necessary modifications, if i don't need to buy the books to play 3.5 i'm in :)

Ok I have come to sing my praises to Saber. That last session was the most awesome I've had in a very, very long time. I so rarely get to use a character to his/her full potential, and I've got to say that this time I did. Awesome description, mysterious characters and that special piece of equipment that you know he now longs after :) Anyways, hope to do it again soon.

Gah, I have said it once, and I shall say it again. We really need a cleric. I am already being a bard, so I can try to cover for the rogue and mage... though only if I am lucky, but we have no way to heal other then resting... Just an observation.
>Stick your finger through it, and scrape the shit out your ass with your finger
The Curse of the Void (3.5)
He's right, we really do need some...sort of spellcaster besides a bard because well...you get the idea. And I'm sure that Saber will throw all sorts of nasty things at us, providing we ever get this game off the ground! :D
Oh and Melubb...I am a pirate :)

Ok, well, I've been doing a shitload of thinking (did you know you can't swear on DnDO's forum? Gay...) and I've figured out what will occur next in the story plot. I need to do a little mapping, but other than that, I'm good to go. Muddy's intro is about half-finished, so one more session and we should be ready for full-group play. I hope to start the group moving next week sometime.

Ok, here's the deal.
This weekend, I will be AVAILABLE. I know, "Oh my god, he's kidding, right?". No. I'm gonna be here ALL SATURDAY. You guys had better fucking be online. This is gonna be one super kickass session.
We'll first finish Muddy's intro (maybe on Friday night, if he's here), and then on to group sessions. I have the first one done, approx. running time would be about 2-3 hours at least, ceiling being about 4-5 hours. After that, I am so well-prepared that I have even the second group session started. I've got enough of that done to actually run it, if such an awesome thing occurs.
Please, everyone in this game post when you'll be online Saturday. We need to play this weekend.
Lastly, what's more is, I'll most likely be available to play this Sunday too. Not all day Sunday, due to phone sex work (I hate my job), but later on Sunday we'll be able to play. Again, please post as to when I can expect you all to be online Saturday.
EDIT: If you havn't received the following things, please talk to me:
Meksturzan town map
World map (with Meksturzan marked)
Your revised character sheet
Lastly, Dark, I need to talk to you about something.
Oh, and Muddy: Guess a number, 1-50. The closer to my number that you get, the better.

I see that I am free the same time, next week. Please, everyone, post your availabilities and... Let me know what you thought of yesterday!

You guys are doing the spokesperson thing wrong, that's why. The spokesperson tells me the final decision, that's all. There's also [commonly] a group leader (many times the same person as the spokesperson) and a combat leader. The group leader makes the out of combat decisions (with group input), and the combat leader sets up (BEFORE COMBAT) various battle strategies that the group may use, and attempt to execute them in the heat of combat.
Just my two cents.

Yes, and when you think about it theres very little time for debate during a siege escape...I'm perfectly willing to listen to you folks input, or step down, or decide whatever, but I think it can wait until we've escaped a dangerous situation. Thats just my input on it...oh and can we avoid the whole slurring of characters? Vaine does have a plan, kinda hard to tell it at the moment though. Eagerly awaiting the next session on Friday/Sat.

Hmm... Well, who says that Galmen is not an ex-con? Or Dontar? Or Lusre for that matter? Just because YOU are not an ex-con, doesn't mean the rest of us aren't. Also, some pirates happen to have morals (hopefully Will falls into this catagory) and very good leadership skills. Besides, do you even have any proof that Will is a ex-con anyway? For that matter, I never even remember seeing him say he was a pirate.

The Curse of the Void (3.5)
Ok guys, I've got a question for you four.
Later in the campaign, some attack force will most obviously be assembled to take back Meksturzan. Now... I was just wondering... When this happens, would the group like to take a small break from the regular D&D action to play a small minigame, where you four control the forces attempting to take back Meksturzan?
See, this game isn't going to be some walk in the park, though. It won't be easy, and it will have an impact on what happens in the story and to your characters. Do good, you get some obscure rewards. Do poorly, suffer some obscure consequences.
I'll give more details on how this game would work after I know if everyone is interested in it.

Aye taking back Meksturzan should be a fun little dealio. And uh, we shouldn't worry too much about leadership of the group, I'm sure everyone can agree on a mutually acceptable compromise :) (I'm a politician already :P ) Anyways, how about we discuss it now, while we are at it. I was thinking of heading up towards Wiach, or maybe heading towards Cale. Group thoughts on this? Good/Bad idea?
BTW: Melubb informed me he can't make it Friday/Sat...will this destroy the game plans?

Ok let me be the first to say...holy crap. That has to be the biggest battle I have ever seen on Opnp. The final battle alone was what...16 goblin swordsmen/spearsmen, 6 worg riders and Hozar? Total kill count was over 60 goblins! I mean wow....and we just escaped the town by the skin of our teeth and I guess we made it to Wiach ok. Where do you propose we head from here? That is, if anybody cares.
Edit: This Saturday I *think* I'll be in Vegas...I'm not sure. Talk to me about concerns you have.

Alrighty, with that out of the way, everyone has escaped the captured town of Meksturzan. The short travel to Wiach happened without incident. Now, the group has to decide where they're going. Dontar has recommended the southern pass through the mountains. It's not as dangerous, and is of a lower altitude. Also, there is a small town to stop at as a waypoint in the center of the mountains.
Next weekend, I might be free. My dad [asshole] said we could start working on my car [not asshole] possibly. As you may have guessed, my car is a fairly high priority of mine... So... Yeah. We'll see.

WTF?
I think we may try to talk to the noblilty here, if there is any, to see if we would be able to catch a ride in a airship. While unlikely, it is possible said people will allow us to fly to Tinandre.

altho, i don't particulariyl belong here.. um.. post whore?
i think not. just cause he has nothing better to do (or chooses to devote such a large part of his life to) then monitor the forums and post his feelings and thoughts and ideas doesn't make him a postwhore. you want a post whore, go to dnd-o forums and look at nyx and shan.
at least morro's posts have content.. inassomuch to be near 90% or so

Sorry, bad mood yesterday. That was the first thing to catch my eye. Red to a bull, you know.
At least my sig makes sense.
Now, to add minor justification to my above post, the posts in Support & D20 were fairly irrelevant. One was a bump, and I don't know what the other was. Yet again, bad mood = to blame.
Sorry Morro.

Not to beat a dead horse or anything but. I stand behind Morrolan 100%. He is an active member of the OPnPW Community and his posts in general are a model for others to follow in. The one post I don't like is in the support forum and thats it. Hundreds of posts and I can think of one.
Post Whore? Not at all.
Nothing better to do? Thats not it at all, he doesn't sit here 24/7 he reviews the forums and posts his thoughts. I do the same thing to when I can, so he is able to do it regularly so what.
I go beyond denouncing the statement, I thank Morrolan.
