Got the character sheet now. anything else I need ? or do I just need to find someone willing to play with a OPnPW noob like me?

and how does it work? do I join a special server or something like that?

First and foremost, welcome Rolan. Some of the posts are a bit old. This group goes back a few years, and the forums don't get cleaned out .

Ok. In order to connect with OPnP, you will have to edit your profile (the way you do this is different depending on your OPnP version). You will either be selecting your profile and hitting 'Edit', or you will be right clicking your profile name.

When you go into edit it, you will see a space for game server, and there will be a button labeled 'def' to the right of it. Conveniently ignore that button, and click directly in the box, and type the following for server:
opnpwprimary.dyndns.org

Once you have done that, and hit ok, you should be able to connect to OPnP via that profile. Now be too concerned if no one's on, but I'll be hopping on just to catch you if you show up

now I just need to get to know the system and what better way to do that than to play a bit

how does it work with character making? I have the program "character sheet" and know how to fill it out. do I w8 until I found a game I wanna join and then make a character acording to what the DM of that game requires?

Character creation isn't a part of OPnP, at least not yet. Tux was working it into it though.

As far as games, it's not much harder than just looking around. DM's post games that they are starting, under either 'd20' or 'non-d20'

What systems do you play out of sheer curiosity, just DnD?

Also, welcome Rolan, i hope you find that the community is to your liking and you can have fun here. The people are all very helpful and the community is very close knit. I'm glad you've picked us to inhabit, and you will find your niche if you stay long enough. Typically during the college school year opnpw gets a bit quieter, but most of us (including myself) still find time to post and make sure the forums stay alive. If you have any questions, ask anyone, no matter how silly, and we'll all gladly help you..

Just as a disclaimer, when i say we all, i mean all of us except clay, clay will probably find out where you live and send you mean letters or something..
