Or Warhmmer 40k? Or Inquisitor? Or Battlefleet Gothic? Any of those tabletop games? I know I do.
Anyone play Warhmmer?
Hell yes.
I dabbled with Fantasy. I picked up 3 starter boxes, they were already marked down $15, plus an extra 60% off aftar that. I split them with a friend, he took Orcs and I took Empire.
I have several 40k armies. None of them are complete. It is a hobby of mine, I like to assemble and paint the models, but I don't have much time to do so, so a lot of it is still in the box. I have- Eldar, Daemon Hunters (I am going for an Inquisitorial Storm Trooper army. I like the way the Kasrkin look :) ), Tau, Space Marines (Ghost Wolves, they are a rogue chapter operating off of an ancient and long forgotten decree left upon the Inquisition while the Emperor still walked amongst men), and Necrons.
I have played a little bit of Inquisitor, I did not get much into it though. I wish they had Inquisitor tables set up at Games Day though, might change my mind :P
I've never played Battlefleet or Epic or Necromunda, or any of the others.
What do you play?

i've played 40k with slips of paper before, ne abd my friends had a small budget so we just got the codex's, i took Necrons, a couple of my friends took tyranids and orks. i pretty much sat in a corner and pwned anything that came within reach, needless to say i had a lot funner time of it than my friends. the only time i lost was when they up and decided to make a four way free for all into a 3-on-1 slaughterfest against my poor machines, though they took like 2 or 3 to 1 casualties. i have a knack for grasping the rules of stuff quickly, they couldn't sort themselves out

Speaking of which, are there any online programs akin to OPnPW for tabletop games? I think it would be a fun project if there isn't one.
Oh programmers and finding new projects to help procrastinate the old ones.

Well, I play tabletop Warhammer40k  :D ,and I just play it with painted models and a painted board.
@Mikki: I don't really think there is... the best thing would probably go to a hobby store, because you can't really describe the amount of inches there are in between troops and all the cover saves and craters and buildings and bunkers and tanks and wreckages... etc.

You are both right.
There are two reasons it would be difficult to emulate Warhammer over the internet. One of which makes it impossible.
First- Warhammer does not play within hexes or squares, it is fully three dimensional. This affects the game dramaticly, from measuring distances to what dice to roll. Example, if you shoot at a tank from the front, you have to test against its front armour. However if you fire at a tank from the front, but are firing from a foot above ground level, you will be hitting the topside armour and test against its rear armour.
Second- Games Workshop is very protective of their IP. They tend to get very upset when somebody uses their ideas and they do not make money off of it. That is why they do not have a multiplayer Warhammer game akin to the actual tabletop game. It would reduce their sales in models. Of course GW would respond the same way they always do, another price hike.. that would upset me!
On the other hand, a virtual tabletop which supports wargames would be very nice indeed. Would you be capable and willing to work on such a product? Because I would certainly use it! I could even work with you to build a "house" game to be played with it.
I've got all the ideas for it. I have actually thought this through already, I just don't have the ability to create it.

Other than being a loootttt more coding than I could do in a reasonable amount of time, it seems like a cool project I'd enjoy. I've never played Warhammer myself, but I've watched a couple of times and read a bunch of the rules. As far as I can tell, it wouldn't be too bad to program something just for Warhammer, but making it "universal" to avoid IP infringement would make it a bigger project. Then it's just up to someone to get all of the Warhammer rules plugged in. x_X That would be two very large projects.
By the way, fractional distances aren't bad. Computers can handle decimal places, so they can handle 360-degree movement in 3 dimensions just fine. Most video games these days wouldn't work otherwise. =P
Anyway, I've looked around the interblag briefly, but, not surprisingly, I only found about 20 dead projects. None of which had been worked on since 2005 or earlier. Honestly, this would be a cool project, but don't get your hopes up. I'm really too busy to do something like this unless I can get one of my friends to help design it with me and keep me working on it.

I don't know nuthin 'bout nuthin.
But I do know how to make game rules. Thats my hobby ^-^
If you think it would be easier (and hopefully even "simple") to code something for a specific game, as opposed to a more universal application, then I could work with you on it.
If I make a game, we won't infringe upon GW's rights to monopolize conceptual value, because it will be my own concept. This turn into a cool project for us. But no worries, I know how busy life gets, I won't get my hopes up.
