Quick Start

Welcome to Online Pen & Paper World!
 
Online Pen & Paper World (OPnPW for short) is a free program that allows you to play pen and paper roleplaying games online with other players or DMs/GMs. Players connect to a central server and can create or join different game rooms from there.  This page is a quick start guide that will try to get you acquainted with the software as painlessly as possible.
 
Getting OPnPW: Follow the link to download the current version of OPnPW. To install it, just run the executable and follow the instructions.
 
Setting it up: When you first run OPnPW, you will be prompted to create a profile that you will use when you connect to the server. Click Yes. On the Create/Edit Profile screen, the Nickname is what other users will see as your name. The Account Name can be any name that you wish (same with the Profile Name). You don't need to pick a profile icon. The other fields are self-explanatory, with one exception: you will have to change the "Server" field in order to properly connect. Copy the text strikeropnpw.dyndns.org and paste it into the "Server" field. When you have done this and entered everything else, click "Done." Double-click on your new profile and you should be able to log in!
 
If you are having problems: In general, the best way to get help (as well as the best place to find players and DMs/GMs, organize games, etc.) is the OPnPW forum. You can post a topic in the Support section there and describe your problem. Our users are quite knowledgeable about the program and will try to help you however they can.
